Longing

Can I miss something I've never known? Sure. I've experienced that many times.

But can I miss something that no one has ever known? Apparently so...

It doesn't necessarily make sense--perhaps you'll think I'm more strange than usual--but today I sat by the lake praying, and once again found myself overwhelmed with a longing for Jesus. A longing in the sense of "I miss You, my Lord."

But, really, it's not possible for me to miss the unbroken union that I have yet to experience. I'm truly grateful that He allows us to taste the barest flavor of what that relationship was once like--what it will be like again someday. We catch the vaguest trace of his fragrance.

And yet the Holy Spirit within me sighs with longing for a return to full union. "I miss You, my Lord."

That song makes me happy in one respect... but makes me cry in others. O.o *sigh*

Yeah, same here. I really appreciate someone introducing me to it. It's pretty powerful.

If I may ask, in what respect does it make you happy?

1) Because that song meant something to someone that I introduced it to.
And
2) Because I contribute that song to a place [time frame] I was at and it reminds me of where I am now in relation. Which is a considerably better place to be. I'm not saying that I don't still cry about it though.

I can relate to that. Every now and then I hit a day where I play this one two or three times in a row.

I'm happy to hear that you can see growth. I'm sure there are many areas in which that's true--whether you can see the progress in them or not.

*sigh* It suuure doesn't seem like it. It feels like I'm moving backwards.

I know. It feels like that to me sometimes, too. But if you're seeking obedience, if you'remaking an effort to submit your heart and focus your mind on Him (like reading His Word and worshipping Him in moments when you are beset by lies and pain) then you have nothing to fear, dear heart. Growth will come. He cherishes us far more than we could ever cherish ourselves. And He will bring greater and greater glory to His name by displaying His power, grace, and love to us and through us.

Thank you. Although I'm not doing very good at the reading part, but I've found worshipping Him eases your mind. It may not be an instant cure and vanquish all the lies, but it helps a lot.

I heart you today. ^_^

Girl, you sure know how to make a person's day. Thank you!

(Consider yourself hearted back. ^_^)

Yay! My fuzzy mind and throbbing head that encases it can use some hearts. :D

Aww, sorry friend. *hug* Hang in there.

*-* I get a hug too. :D

^_^

Anything in partiicular that I can be praying about for you?

Apart from my dying body? (which needs a LOT of prayer right now… O.O) Uhumm... Motivation (ridiculously gigantic poster board needs colored for art O.o), Endurance (to finish a rather thick book - I partially read a book on the subject brought up some rather fuzzy creatures and just the fact that I’m a slow reader and need more time to finish all these books), and most of all Strength to keep going. (I’ll be honest, I’m exhausted more than I have ever been. I had a long weekend and I’ve hit the wall. I feel like giving up. So, strength to keep going would be good.)

I will absolutely be praying for you in those areas.

"For you, Adonai, light my lamp;
Adonai, my God, lights up my darkness.
With you I can run through a whole troop of men [or score of afflictions],
with my God I can leap a wall.

"As for God, his way is perfect,
the word of Adonai has been tested by fire;
he shields all who take refuge in him.

"For who is God but Adonai?
Who is a Rock but our God?

"It is God who girds me with strength;
he makes my way go straight.
He makes me swift, sure-footed as a deer,
and enables me to stand on my high places.
He trains my hands for war
until my arms can bend a bow of bronze;

"You give me your shield, which is salvation,
your right hand holds me up,
your humility makes me great.
You lengthen the steps I can take,
yet my ankles do not turn."
~Psalm 18:28-36

Ah yes, and resisting the temptation of certain foods. I was really good today. ^_^

not4myself said...

Yay! I'm proud of you for that! (And for many other things.) ^_^

Just keep pressing in, Imoutochan. And hold tight to the promise that what He is doing is actually lengthening your steps; your ankles will not turn.

(Speaking of food, I should probably eat some...)

You're proud of me?! :D *-*
Did you know that's one of my favorite things to do? Yep. Making Jjs proud makes my day! I just wish I could do it more often... :/

Right up there with raindrops on roses and whiskers on bunnies, eh?

I'm praying for you, my friend. Just keep pressing in toward the One who loves you best; I'll be plenty proud of you for that.

Can I give you a heart today? I need to. <3

not4myself said...

Sure thing! I could really use one.

There's one for you, too. Hang in there, my friend.

Thank you Jj. *-* I'm in the bargining mood: How about a hug today and I'll give you... a hug back? [the non-computer-generated kind] I know I drive a hard bargain, but I learned from the best. ;)

not4myself said...

Deal! I think I can handle that; although you *do* drive a hard bargain.

Anonymous said...

So, you still get your real one next time. Do I get another? ...I need one... :/

not4myself said...

Definitely! Sometime soon.
I'm praying for you, my friend.

Anonymous said...

Can I ask which day is soon? (So I can make sure I'm there to claim this hug.)

not4myself said...

Oh, I'm guessing it'll be sometime in the next seven days. ^_~

Well, one day I need to leave early to come home and work for dad. So, if I don't know and it falls on that day... :'(

I miss dear friends who are far away, or who have already made it Home. And some days, I miss Jesus even more than I miss these other dear ones...
